SMIT 2016

28–29 April 2016, the 8th Student Scientific Conference on Mathematical Modelling and Information Technologies was held at the Technology Centre of TGT Oilfield Services.

The conference included presentations made by students and postgraduates of some of the leading universities of Moscow, Kazan, Ufa, Samara, Novosibirsk and Ukhta.

The presentations delivered by young participants on the development and modelling of oil and gas fields, geophysical well logging, mathematical modelling, and design and technical implementation of digital signal processing systems were evaluated by the Jury as highly professional and promising for the industry.

Three projects were selected as winners and their authors were awarded with valuable prizes and employment contracts with TGT:

• “Roentgen Computer Tomography as a Basis for Interpreting Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Data in Whole Core Studies” by Artur Fattakhov

• “Automatic Detection of Structural Editing of a Digital Image” by Ilya Korchagin

• “A Software and Hardware System for Human Motion Capture Based on Inertial Sensors” by Renat Khakimullin

Feedback from the SMIT 2016 participants confirmed that the conference offered them a great opportunity to present ideas, discuss problems, share success stories with their research peers, make new contacts and have good time together.

A guided tour of TGT’s Technology Centre including the Tool Factory as part of the conference programme turned out to be of special interest to the participants.
